The City of Edmonton
Welcome to Alberta's Capital City
The northern river city where its residents not only work hard but they play hard too. And since 2011, Edmonton has experienced a growth rate increase of 13.9% making it the fastest growing metropolitan area in all of Canada! This recent growth has lead us to develop into a proud and vibrant community that is increasingly celebrated for its diverse culture, our education system, our professional sports teams, and being home to Alberta’s provincial government. Edmonton is also becoming a major centre for engineering firms, which has helped lead us to see continued growth and prosperity within the technology sector. We are quickly becoming one of Canada’s foremost leaders in the fields of research and education.
If that’s not enough, Edmonton is also the birthplace of a few nationally known business chains. Those include Earl’s (est. 1982), Wok Box (est. 2004), Boston Pizza (est. 1964), Booster Juice (est. 1999), Famoso (est. 2007), and The Running Room (est. 1984). Edmonton is also the proud home of 2 storied professional sports teams in the Edmonton Eskimos Football Club and the Edmonton Oilers Hockey Club.
